Bits-of-changes

Dear God, I hope that's just about everything, because my eyes are about to cross with tiredness.

As you can undoubtedly see, I've posted the bits-of-changes to domesticat. Yes, the header's a graphical one now. It's approximately 31K; I wanted the filesize to be smaller, but I haven't found a compromise that I like just yet.

Most of the other changes are small. I changed the width of the main page—the journal entries have a slightly larger space, as do the side menus (which definitely needed a bit of breathing room). I also incorporated a light blue that matches the header bar.I believe I've gotten nearly every page on the site. Actually, I think I might have gotten them all except the pages generated by the guestbook script, but considering that it's past midnight and I want to go to bed now, I'm going to hedge my bets and say that because of my tiredness, I may well have missed a page or two or horked something along the way.

So—to answer the real question: why?

December 15 marks six months of steady writing in this journal. I got free hosting when I started working for an ISP. Originally I intended domesticat to be something of a playspace for me to test out new ideas and graphics. So, to that end, I created a very simple and very generic page that would not need immediate changing as the focus of domesticat.net changed.

Except that now, several months later, domesticat.net is a full-fledged [and almost daily] journal. It is no longer as generic as its design. It needed a facelift to go with the change in focus.

So I gave it something a little more grown-up. I used a still that I liked from the catcam, turned it into a duotone to match the graphic, and did a little creative erasing to get rid of the rest of the computer room that was visible in the original picture.

To that, I added a set of a few links that had stayed constant over the past six months. Plus a tagline that sums up my feelings about the things I've been writing lately.

All in all, I think it's a bit more suitable. For now, though, it's time to go to bed.

Other note: Andy agrees with me that the picture makes me look like a twelve-year-old, strawberry-blonde Janeane Garofalo. Given my slightly ascerbic wit at times, I find this amusing and somewhat appropriate.
