At last.

Guys, it's been six months of work. It's over. domesticat.net is finally skinnable.

First off, I owe two people massive hugs, thanks, appreciation, and probably a dinner and a few drinks apiece:

Brad.
Gareth. They each know why, but I feel like telling the world anyway.

First, Gareth: who provided a significant chunk of code that made this entire project come together on Saturday morning. Also for standing by and letting me dig through various websites and my PHP book so as to learn what I needed to know, instead of him just handing the finished code to me and telling me to implement it.

Secondly, Brad, who is probably going to kill me for even saying this:

Brad, dear, I never even would have dreamed of attempting something like this if you hadn't all but prodded me into it. You've always managed to stay one step ahead of me when it comes to ideas about site design and functionality. Had you not brought up the idea of doing skinnable stuff with your site, I never would have even dreamed of attempting to execute something on this scale.

You're going to hate me for saying this, but I wouldn't be half of the designer I am without your prodding. I have learned more just to spite you and show you up than I have for any job or any client. It's said badly, but the gist is that over the past six years, you've forced me to be at my best, and you consistently demand nothing but my best work.

You guys, in short, kick ass.

As for the skinnable stuff: you can see it for yourself at domesticat.net/skins/. You can also click on "skin the site" for the same link. There, you can pick from between (currently) 4 designs. They range from text-only to minimalist to outré.

All four skins are still in development. You will probably run into a glitch or two; I hope to take care of most of them before any of you notice, but it's possible you'll catch some of them before I do. If you have problems, please drop me an email at comments [at] domesticat.net and tell me what problems you've encountered.

Oh, and if you've got an idea for something you think would be a good skin, let me know. I'd be curious to hear about it.
