Sonic adventures

I'm currently exploring the musical intricacies and oddities of Nick Cave, thanks to a net friend.

I'm not exactly certain what it is about the music that appeals to me. I rather impetuously copied off NC's No More Shall We Part cd from his mp3 drive, and started listening to it on my own with no preconceived notions whatsoever.I'm not exactly certain what it is I've heard. I'm still trying to make sense of it all. But I know that what I heard was unusual—lush, original, theatrical. My love for a well-turned bit of prose is well-known; encountering it in song always gives me a vicarious thrill of delight.

Or envy. Depends on how you look at it.

He has a spare copy of NMSWP that he says he is going to ship to me, which delights me intensely—the CD shops in town want an exorbitant price for it, and I can't find one used. I did, however, find a copy of an earlier album (Let Love In) for the charming price of $8. It made its way home with me and is being listened to tonight. I've been in an unsettled mood for the past day or two—frustrated, needing to write, unsure where to start—and somehow, Nick Cave fits the bill.
