Guess the pins and win!

Hairstylist: "Hrm. You have a lot of hair. I think we're going to need a stronger ponytail holder than this one." More pictures are forthcoming, but I have a photo that I will terrify those of you who know me well. Who is this and what did she do with the real Amy?

This took an industrial-strength ponytail holder (much to Suzan's infinite amusement), a lot of hairspray, and an as-yet-unknown number of bobby pins. (Uh. Yeah. You know it's gonna be bad when the hairstylist brings out a fresh box of pins.) So here's your challenge. Make your best guess. Knowing the extreme thickness of my hair, leave your guess in a comment attached to this post: how many bobby pins did it take to make this hairstyle happen? Winner gets…something. I don't know. I'll make up something, but I promise not to send you a jewelry box full of cat fur. (…and no, Suzan and I currently don't know the number. I lost track. We'll find out when we take my hair down tonight.)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! An evil thing to do to me before I'm good and awake on Saturday. :P 79. :D If you sent me a jewelry box full of cat fur, I'd return it by ringing your doorbell after sitting it and a flaming sack of dog crap on your porch. :sneeze:

Dammit, Geof. You took my idea for a Christmas present!

14 That is my guess.

Without knowing the length of the hair, I'd have to say something like 45 or 50, considering it takes me 10 just to get mine in a plain bun. That looks painful, actually.

Duckie, I only have one thing to say to you: "You're gonna die, bitch." (For the rest of you - it's a private joke. It would take too long to explain and it wouldn't be funny to you anyway. You kinda had to be in on the phone call.) Panya - my hair is just now touching the top of my shoulders, but it's remarkably thick. I'll keep my guess to myself...

Having been through this process (thick hair, lots of pins...see prom pictures) I'm going to guess 22. Happy hunting!!!

I have verr thick hair too. The hairdresser takes over an hour just to get it cut. I'm guessing it took 40 pins. :D

42... the only answer ;)
gfmorris's picture

Well, Duckie, I'll be happy to eulogize you at your funeral ...

32 not one more or less. And Carnac the Magnificent gave me the answer. Although I must admit...that mayonnaise jar is starting to get REALLY ripe.

I guess that the number is one less than the total extant pins in the universe. Since that is likely to be a very large number, it gets rounded to infinity. Thus, infinity minus one.

Oh yes. I'm very familiar with this game. :) Sean got to help me take all of the pins out of my hair after the wedding. I left those for housekeeping at the hotel. I still had all of the pins leftover from when the hairstylist had practiced my wedding hairstyle beforehand. It's sad when she has to go get a new box of pins and a new bottle of hairspray in the middle of putting your hair up.

I've had something similar done to my hair (but the stylist told me she was going to make my hair bullet-proof). I like that style! I guess 55

I too am familiar with this game. But for an entirely different reason. My hair is so fine and thin that it takes a ton of bobby pins and hair spray to keep it from falling down! I was pulling pins out of my hair LONG after I thought I had them all on my wedding night (not to mention rice too...) I'll guess 35.
gfmorris's picture

Rice ... hehehehhehe. Hey, I think that was your idea ... ;)
boredelf's picture

yeah, the rice was my idea. I didn't get pummelled too hard though. Rick on the other hand... ;) And everybody else had bubbles! And the heart shaped rice was so cute... :)
Anduril's picture

I'll guess 52? Why, cause someone took 42! :(

Did we ever find out the final tallly?
