Opera!!!!

Not that the NY Phil isn’t fabulous, but Beethoven 2 is a little, well, *meh*. I’d pick one of the opera choices!!! If it were me, I’d go to see the Met’s Lucia. The cast is spectacular and this is supposed to be their best production of the season. (Good video clip at the NY Times website of the dress rehearsal.) Just my two cents as a musician (and the principal clarinettist of an opera orchestra)— it’ll be well worth your dime.

Oh wow - had no idea you

Oh wow - had no idea you participated in such things. I've been surprised at how opinionated people have been when I've asked them. The general reaction has been to skip the Beethoven, since I can easily get that at home. I'm loving that the Met provides easy access to translations. Some of us are uncultured gits who can't speak French or Italian (hi Joyce!).

*snort*

On another note, it cracks me up every time I hear "Il dolce suono..." now (the aria in the video clip) because I think of blue divas and Bruce Willis.

How to vote?

Do we just vote in comments, and you change the bars? I can't seem to pick my selection at all.. but I could just be missing something... That aside! It's an opera choice... but *both* look good, however I imagine the Met would be spectacular! So I'd choose that one on location alone... :) I'm a bit weird that way, enjoy your trip :D :D

Today, I am clearly NOT the most well-frosted cupcake in the dozen…
