Hunting for trainer #4

Score: trainers 3, domesticats 0.I'm now in the market for yet another personal trainer. Val emailed me a couple of nights ago to let me know that due to personal time constraints, she would no longer be able to train me.

(This is the part where I scream out loud -- a lot -- in frustration.)

I don't need to immediately find someone new; at most, I only meet with a trainer once every six weeks, but I was due for a six-week evaluation in early September. However, techops and DCTV-related work have kept me so busy, and a few blood-sugar crashes have kept me tired enough, that I have concentrated almost exclusively on cardio work and haven't done much weightlifting.

I can probably get another good four to six weeks out of my current weightlifting regimen, which will give me time to get back from dragon*con 2004, recover a bit, then hunt for someone new that I can trust.

Most of my struggles at the gym lately can be directly traced to techops and DCTV; as dc2004 creeps closer I find my time becoming ever more devoted to completing parts of this year's presentation and making sure that the tech staff bits I baby (website, mailing list, staff database, shifts signup form, etc.) are all ready to roll.

Still, it's better than last year.

I'm grateful that Val gave me some lead time. I just really, really wish we could have done one more training session either directly before or after dragon*con.

…but we don't always get what we want, do we?

Yeah, we were due for our training session early August. We finally got around to emailing her last week and that was her answer. :(

Man, that really sucks. I'm sorry to hear that she resigned, but I have to admit that I'm not completely surprised. She had been hinting before I left that her personal life was getting a little stressful. Like you said, though, at least she gave you a little bit of lead time...

Kat: From what I understand she's still doing stuff at UAH, just not the extras like us. I guess it's ok for personal trainers to have their own lives. ;) I think that Rick and I are going to try to do it on our own for a while.

I may cycle through a couple of her older routines, as well. I can manage for a while on my own, but I can't do the bodyfat assessments on myself. I'd be willing to pop by UFC every 6-8 weeks just for the assessments, but I think it's probably best I find someone who can serve as a full-time trainer. I know what I need at this point, but I just don't have the knowledge to make the workouts as varied as perhaps they should be.

Yeah, we do lose the metrics doing it on our own. hm... we'll figure something out.
