Okay, for those of you using Netscape 4.7x to read this site, the Easter Bunny has a present for you: you can now read all pages on domesticat.net again. After weeks of pondering what I could do to make the site both HTML 4.0 compliant and have workarounds that would make the page readable in Netscape 4.7x….

I had a momentary flash of brilliance.

I've also been doing a bit of work to domesticat that I wanted to mention. Some of it won't actually appear on the site for some time, but it'll make for a big splash when it does.

Brad kindly proffered a snippet of PHP that would allow me to add some functionality to the list of music artists that I serve up directly from my winamp playlists. The end result is that you can click on the artist, and it will do a Google "I'm Feeling Lucky" search.

Next up on the list: fulfill a few design promises I've made over the past few weeks/months/years. I spent today taking care of one, and I'll move on to a couple more tomorrow.

John Wilson has been wanting me to put together a site design for him for some time. He wanted something clean, simple, and easy to maintain for his site, Jot & Tittle. (site is down as of late June 2001; link will return when the site does)

I walk outside in sock feet and my toes get cold. Nice. It's gone from unseasonably warm to quite chilly. Today's high was around 46, and I have to wonder if that was one of those "daily high reached at midnight" temperatures. It certainly felt like it.

Had a frustrating realization today at about 4:30. I got an email from a client saying, "We're a bit disappointed—we asked you to design us a site with a look and feel similar to the Williams-Sonoma site, and this looks nothing like it."For the first time, though, she included the URL of the site. It took about ten seconds for me to figure out that there are two Williams-Sonoma sites—the kitchen store site and the corporate headquarters site. My design was based off of the store's site and theirs off of the corporate HQ site. Once that discrepancy was resolved, thigns were a lot more chipper over in the design department.

Whee! Today I'm working (again) on my proposed redesign for my company's website. I've put in a LOT of hours on this. It's my fourth design for these guys—I've not been very happy with my previous three. This one, I think, has possibly got the goods. It's still way down deep in alpha, but you can see it on the screenshot for today (September 7).
