I really should warn you people

It only took me fifteen months to get around to taking down 2003's "temporary Valentine's Day design."It's installed, with a photo that might, or might not, be temporary. (Never again shall I be more specific than that when it comes to designs on this site!) Behold the thickness of my Librarian Chic Glasses … which I hardly ever wear out in public. (Tree reflections in glasses are courtesy of Brian & Suzan's backyard.)

Thank God for ... Florida?

From Angel's livejournal this morning, a link to this BBC article: "Florida girl has abortion blocked"

A pregnant 13-year-old girl in Florida has been told she cannot have an abortion because she lacks the maturity to make such a decision.

A state court granted an injunction which prevents the girl from terminating her pregnancy.

So much for making the bed.

Two cats, one brain.  Click on the photo to get a larger version:

Mind-meld complete.

Usually we can tell which one of the brothers Fang possesses the brain at any given moment by his exhibition of intelligent behavior.  Whichever cat is awake generally has the brain.  Notable exception:  when Edmund wanders around the house yelling his kitty arias at the top of his lungs because Tenzing didn't want to play with him, dammit.

Contraceptive overkill

"Don't you think that's a little … overkill?"I'd been waiting in the doctor's office for at least a quarter of an hour, ready for what I was certain would be a completely routine post-op consult. Having never had any kind of major surgery before this tubal ligation, wisdom teeth extraction excepted, I didn't realize that the existence of a surgical incision required a follow-up visit, about two weeks post-op, to ensure that everything was healing correctly.

OMGsox

Sorry. I had a starlady moment there with the title. Don't mind me. The arrival of my new socks has made my life far, far too exciting to bear. What, you say? Socks can't make your life exciting?

This entry is a placeholder

I debated saying anything, and right now I'm still not ready to talk about it much.

Let's just leave it at this for the time being: I was in a car accident yesterday, and it was my fault. It was a minor fender-bender, and thankfully, both I and the other driver are both uninjured.

I did get a sunburn from standing outside in sunlight for over 30 minutes in a sleeveless dress, though.
