Cat years: 6

Six years, it’s been. Six years and nine days to be exact, and I’m still here. I owe you a debt of thanks, those few of you who have kept wandering by, even when the muse packed up and flew to warmer climes every now and then. (These past few months have been another instance of that recurring problem, but it seems to be ending, as the urge to write has been returning as of late.)

Everything else is just marketing

I know we covered this with breathless abandon over at geek-chick.net, but I couldn’t let another day go by without discussing Vanessa Carlton’s upcoming album on my site. For those of you who haven’t heard, you should take a look at Vanessa Carlton’s interview/blurb available at Rolling Stone. Let me start with a choice quote:

I’m singing about suicide, insomnia and paranoia,” Carlton says about the album, which isn’t due until next year. “There’s nothing piano recital-y about it. It’s goth.” Asked to explain, Carlton answers with a question of her own: “Do you know what Wicca is? I believe in like spells and stuff like that…”

I’m just gonna say that again for those of you who didn’t fall over laughing the first time.

Memoriam.

There’s something to be said for taking time away from work. Yes, there IS something to be said, but I’m not sure what it is, and even if I was, I wouldn’t be the person to say it.

This from the person who spent all day Saturday hammering on a website to make it work. It’s mostly there. geek-chick.net has been waiting for a few months to see the light of day, and I think I’ve finally gotten tired of waiting. When I got the offer to host it for free at my ISP, I decided to take advantage of that. The DNS for geek-chick.net hasn’t propagated yet, so everything’s still pointed at the old site (the one that starts off with, “Houston, we have finals”). At some random point in time, differing for each ISP, everything will point to the new site (which already has posts from friends on it). Then I will be much happier—because I will finally be able to test the silly guestbook script.
