A little library will love you for it.

I normally don't do this sort of thing, but I want to ask a favor of my book geek friends.

Are you planning on going to Barnes & Noble anytime soon?  If you are, a moment of free kindness on your part can help out a library system I care a lot about:

Barnes & Noble and the Huntsville Library Foundation have joined forces to give you the unique opportunity to get holiday gifts for the booklovers on your list... and support the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library in the process!

From Friday, December 5th through Friday December 12th, a portion of your purchases at any Barnes & Noble in the country will directly go to fund more books and materials for our library shelves.  Give them code 428870 before you check out, and Barnes & Noble will donate a portion of the purchase price to the Huntsville Library Foundation.  Gift cards, memberships, text books, or magazine subscriptions aren't included, unfortunately.

The Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization with one purpose:  bettering the libraries of Madison County, Alabama.  They make a lot of things possible for HMCPL.  Giving this code doesn't cost you anything; it just helps someone else out.

Write it down.  Code 428870.  December 5 through December 12.  A little library in Alabama would love you for it.

any idea how big the "portion" is?

No, not yet, but it beats nothing.  I'd ask S about it, but she's at home with a back injury that's being blunted by tasty tasty painkillers, and I'm not calling her for anything short of the apocalypse.

From "The Simpsons":

Newspaper editor: … And to protect Mother Earth, each copy contains a certain percentage of recycled paper.
Lisa: And what percent is that?
Newspaper editor: Zero. Zero’s a percent!

(Okay, it's almost certainly not zero, I was just curious!)

It had better be higher than zero or there's gonna be a beatdown?  :)
