music

song and sense

I admit it. I'm a definite fangirl where Josh Ritter is concerned. I can thank Adam for turning me on to his music. There's something in his manner of storytelling -- literate, thoughtful, playful, emotional -- that delights me every time a new album comes out.

Put some happy in your life.

Via Colter, here's what I'm humming tonight, courtesy of Nashville duo Swan Dive:

I think I'm going to need this album...

Damien Rice, redux

Back in 2003 I wrote about the experience of seeing a then unknown-to-me Damien Rice at WorkPlay, my favorite little music venue down in Birmingham, AL:

uptempo music + headphones = progress (we hope)

Dearest nerdiverse, through problems not of my own making* I am wearing headphones for about eight hours straight every day, and will likely be doing so every workday for the rest of this month.  As a result, I have a serious, dire, and immediate need to rock out.

See http://www.last.fm/user/domesticat for everything I've listened to since 2004, or better yet see this subpage for what I've listened to in the past year.

Her Morning Elegance (reblog)

I admit, this is a shameless reblog from SassyBlonde's YouTube Roundup, but I'm with her on this one: Oren Lavie's video for "Her Morning Elegance" just makes me happy and I can't even explain why.

TV on the radio on the domesticat on the blog

Huh, I think TV On The Radio's "Dear Science" is finally clicking for me.

hey jackboot, fuck your war!
Cause I'm fat and in love and no bombs are fallin’ on me for sure
But I'm scared to death that I’m livin' a life not worth dying for

Anyone else listened to this album? It's quite the mad rush.

In fact, come to think of it, I've got the technology. If you're logged in, hop over to domesticat.net/listen to ... well ... do just that.
